{happy} birthday

dear dad,

happy birthday!  Today would have been your 52nd birthday.

i miss you. a lot. and i wish i could talk to you and know how you feel about being 52. hopefully you would love gaining one more year of wisdom and experience.

since your last birthday some very significant things have happened in my life:

i met the man of my dreams.

he proposed--on the same day you proposed to mom, only years later.

we were married in december. you would have loved the wedding. it was beautiful. a little cold, but perfect for us.

i moved to california. i live 15 minutes away from the beach. you loved the beach...at least, from the pictures i've been,i think you do.

if you were here i would have given you a wonderful gift-although i'm not sure what it would have been considering i'm not sure what you were really like. but you would have loved it, of course. 

i love you, i miss you, and i hope you can feel of that love for you.

you haven't come to see me in my dreams recently...so maybe you could drop in sometime-just to say hello.
